Creating a layout and importing pictures One of the most powerfull features of this software is the abbility to automate the template filling by means of a previous layout.
This layout offers to the designer a place to arrange a preview of the whole album. Now you will know how the album will look before starting to design any page. Select Album - Create Layout, then choose which kind of order you prefer for the pictures in the album A large PSD file will be created in Photoshop containing all the pictures selected for your album ( the ones saved or imported to your Pictures folder), each picture has its own layer. Choose the Photoshop Move tool and activate auto selecting and group auto selecting ( for CS2), now reposition the pictures in the document joining them in virtual sheets to get a whole wysiwyg album preview. The next step is to join the pictures for the same sheet, select the layers with the move tool and autoselect groups ( for CS2) or order the layers in the layers palette ( for CS), then create a group with this layers ( CTRL + G ) It is time to select a template for your new album sheet, remember the number of pictures you have grouped for the first group and look for a template to acommodate them. Double click on the template and it will be opened and resized for your album in Photoshop. Select "Pictures - Import from Layout" at the program menu, you will be asked for confirmation and the pictures of your group will automatically be inserted in the template, the left picture in the layout into the upper shape layer of the template, the next picture in the layout into the next shape layer of the template and the right picture from the layout into the bottom shape layer of the template. Each picture will be resized and repositioned to fit the space of her target shape layer.
Save your sheet and the work is done. Create a group in the layout for every joined pictures ( virtual sheets) and follow the same steps. In just minutes you will have the whole album designed.
